Earlier this year, I traveled to Copenhagen (København), Denmark for a business trip. I was really excited that work was taking me to a new place… and I had heard great things about the food. I am happy I got to experience the Danish hygge!! Check out this book for more hygge!!
Of course the first place I wanted to try on my list was Noma, but my colleagues and I had found out that they would be moving to Mexico for their current pop up in Telum. Hopefully I can try them when they return to Copenhagen.
Where to Eat:

Amass (map): This restaurant came recommended from another foodie friend. We had the extended tasting menu. I thought the dishes were so thoughtful and unique! Highlights for our menu in March were the carrot & almond “ricotta” dish and the Icelandic lamb neck. And lets not forget the dessert with the shaved frozen brown butter. Oh so good.

108 (map): I actually found this one on Instagram. It’s a little scary how the suggestions for you are so accurate. But after seeing some of their food posts on Instagram, I decided this would be a dinner for one of our free nights. About a month before our visit, 108 earned one Michelin Star! All the dishes were great and beautifully plated. The cauliflower dish was the star of the night. I dream of that cauliflower.

Copenhagen Street Food (map): Where else would you meet you colleges from all over the world for lunch? CPH Street Food was great. There are a bunch of kiosks/stands inside the building with food from all over the world. So you can grab whatever you fancy and meet up at the communal picnic tables. We went for the shawarma wrap and falafel plate.

Torvehallerne Market (map): As a part of a team building, we took a food tour of the Market. It was lead by a very knowledgable guide who gave us lots of information on the food and the history of Denmark. We tried local cheeses, sweets/candies, beer, and even walked over to a hot dog stand.

Toldboden (map): We had one of our company dinners here and it was amazing. It is right on the water and I can imagine on a nice sunny day, it would be nice to sit out on the patio. I am not sure how it is on a normal evening since we were a special event. Our dinner was served buffet style in the dining room.
What to see:

Nyhavn (map): This is the canal with all the colorful buildings from the cover photos and many of the photos of Copenhagen you might have seen. We popped into one of the bars along the canal after a few hours of walking around and had a local cider. There was one morning we ran here from our hotel to take some sunrise photos 🙂
Trampolines on the Sidewalk (map): Totally random and totally fun. There are these random trampolines right along the waterfront. Some colleagues had mentioned them early in the week, but I didn’t notice them until the last day. Check out the link for some google images of the area.

Copenhagen Opera House / Operaen (map): Oh my goodness… this place is BEAUTIFUL. On our last night in CPH, our company hosted a night out at the Opera House. Although we did not see a performance there, we were entertained during the reception by a soloist in the lobby. I am sure that seeing a performance on that stage would be exceptional. Oh and those glass chandeliers are just beautiful.
