Pre-COVD, a friend and I would take an annual trip to watch a New England Patriots. Our last 2 games we decided to head to Boston and their home stadium in Foxborough.

For our 2019 trip, we decided to drive about 1.5 hrs for a quick overnight at the Getaway tiny cabin in Epsom, NH. We totally lucked out as it was perfect timing for some leaf peeping in the woods. Because we had taken the red-eye from the west coast, we landed super early and had most of the day to kill before checking into the cabin. We decided we should hit up some apple orchards on the way. A little google time in our rental and we were off!

Day One: On the way to NH, we stopped by six (6) apple orchards/farms and had lunch at a yummy clam shack.

Day Two: Back to Boston, we stopped by three (3) more orchards/farms and revisited one from day one (Conners Farm) to confirm it was our favorite doughnut. We also sprinkled in some chowder spots in NH and MA into our drive back.

I called Day Two “Doughnut, Chowder, Chowder, Chowder, Doughnut, Doughnut, Chowder, Doughnut, Boston Cream Pie” day; because that is what we ate. LOL

Apple Cider Doughnuts:

Overall we tried Apple Cider Doughnuts at ten (10) orchards/farms in MA and NH. I will list our top 4 doughnuts and then the rest in no particular order.

Conners Farm (Map): TOP 4: Our favorite overall. We had to go back on the way back to Boston to confirm our love of these doughnuts.

Parlee Farms (Map): TOP 4: I still think of these three little plump doughnuts to this day. LOL. It’s been 2 years. Yum.

DeMeritt Hill Farm (Map): TOP 4: Home to Halloween Overload. Sounds like a fun pairing; Apple picking and Halloween spooks!

Russell Orchards (Map): TOP 4: This Orchard pairs nicely with a stop at the Clambox of Ipswich.

The Original Boston Cream Pie at the Omni Parker House Hotel (Map): Originally known as the Parker House Chocolate Cream Pie, we know know it as the Boston Cream Pie. It’s technically a cake and its delicious. The ratios of cake:pudding:chocolate are perfect!
